A Warrior’s Journey

The Totem
by: Sean McElhenny I stand motionless in the center of town I see everyone's pain as they walk by Day in and Day out Some carry their pain with them Their backs arching from the weight Yet they keep on walking Others show their pain They throw their bottles at me But they just crack against my frame While others drown their pain They sit against me and drink until their world goes black They dream of a better reservation I can not walk I wish I can, so I could leave this place Nothing here but pain and empty space I can not talk I wish I can talk, so I could give them hope Nothing here but beer bottles and broken dreams But in the end all I can do is watch. |
